From the Top Taping at IIYM

The prestigious media organization From the Top will showcase top young musical talent when they tape a show at the Lied Center of Kansas on July 15, 2008, during the International Institute for Young Musicians Summer Music Academy at the University of Kansas.

IIYM students are encouraged to apply to be considered to perform on the show. Follow the link below for applications and more information: http://www.fromthetop.org/Programs/BeOnTheShow.cfm

IIYM students will also have the opportunity to attend the taping. Dr. Smith, who took part in a broadcast as part of a team of teachers (who lost to the students in a musical game!), says, “I hope all IIYM students will be there. It’s a lot of fun.”

IIYM students wishing to perform on the show should follow the link above to apply.  Information about purchasing tickets for non-performers will be included in each IIYM student’s acceptance packet.

From the Top is a non-profit organization that creates multi-media platforms to encourage and celebrate the commitment of young people to music and the arts. Their weekly radio showcase of America's top young classical musicians is hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O’Riley and is distributed by NPR to 250 stations nationwide, and sponsored by UBS. From the Top reaches 750,000 loyal listeners each week.
