The International Institute for Young Musicians L.L.C. is an American organization dedicated to creating world-class opportunities for young musicians from around the globe. 

The IIYM assists participants in translating artistic vision into high performance through direct, practical, and fully-involved guidance from internationally renowned professionals.

IIYM Summer Music Academies, under the direction of Dr. Scott McBride Smith, are an internationally recognized course of intensive study for young muscians, offering instruction to students from around the world who wish to improve their mastery of performance.

Results from IIYM programs have been impressive. Former students have won top honors in competitions sponsored by American Music Teachers National Association and the American String Teachers Association, as well as prizes in the Van Cliburn Competition, the Chopin Competition in Warsaw, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition at Juilliard, Art Livre Competition in Brazil, the Horowitz Competition in Kiev, Ukraine, and the Gilmore Festival. IIYM Summer Academies and Competitions draw students from Europe, Asia, South and Central America, Canada and the United States.

The presitigious IIYM Summer Music Academies  are held every summer.  There, students from ages 11-22 come together for a three-week program of intense study and performance.  Daily student recitals feature an impressive array of talented young musicians in solo and chamber music performances.  Students participate in a wide range of music classes and off-campus performances.  There is ample time and space for practice and rehearsal.

IIYM Faculty are selected based on their expertise and interest in teaching on the highest level, and combine visiting artists with faculty from host colleges and universities.  Luminaries of the teaching field who have served on past faculties under Smith's direction include Richard Angeletti, Emilio del Rosario, Miyoko Nakaya Lotto, Thomas Schumacher, Robert Shannon, Nelita True, and Jack Winerock, among others.
