Dr. Ronald Shinn

Professor and Music Program Coordinator

Dr. Ronald Shinn was a member of the music faculty at Huntingdon College for 30 years, and now is a Professor of Piano at Samford University inBirmingham, Alabama. He holds degrees from the University of New Mexico, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Alabama, and has studied with Storm Bull, George Robert, Howard Karp, and Amanda Penick . Shinn's piano students are consistent winners in state and regional competitions. He frequently serves as a judge for collegiate competitions and was the recipient of the 1999 Alabama Music Teacher's Association Teacher of the Year Award. His wife Barbara is a pianist, also teaching at Samford, and son Michael has degrees from Juilliard, where he now teaches as an adjunct in music theory.
